In this regard, the deputy minister of communication, Gabriela Alcón, said that the blockades seek “impunity” for former president Evo Morales because his requests are unconstitutional.
“They point out the recognition of the congress of Lauca Ñ, which corresponds to another instance, in addition, there is a breach (of the statutes of the MAS – IPSP) and speaks of a single candidacy in the political instrument; They talk about the authorization of Evo Morales as a candidate when it is determined by the Political Constitution of the State and not up to the Executive; and to lift the trials that Evo Morales has, which clearly shows that impunity for Morales is sought”, said the Bolivian deputy minister.
The deputy minister also recalled that the government had called for dialogue between the blocking groups to discuss their sectoral demands, which are also determined by economic problems.
The Government also ensures that the congregants did not attend the dialogue meeting.
“So, for political, personal and electoral reasons, the population, carriers, producers and other economic sectors are being harmed at this time; who is responsible for what can be generated by the blockades? We have seen queues at service stations and (risk of) rising food prices when they do not reach the supply centers, who is responsible?”, insisted Gabriela Alcón.
For his part, former president Evo Morales, from his Twitter account, stated that the government built a judicial and violent route to end the Process of Change.
Through sentences they seek to take away the acronym of MAS-IPSP from the Social Movements in order to outlaw the Instrument. “They also intend to disqualify us through legal proceedings,” he said.
We are not afraid of them. Abuse and violence have always found a democratic response in us. And our candidacy represents the real alternative that the Bolivian people have to get out of the crisis, as we did in 2005. Our firmness lies in the popular support that expresses its affection and company in every corner of the country”, said Morales.
